It's been a quiet couple of weeks with my new pc...gaming is now such a pleasure rather than the pain it had become.

One minor change I have made is to add some rubber-dampers to the side-panel thumbscrews. There had been an odd little buzz/vibration that I couldn't trace, I had initially thought it was the pump but found that its mounts had been rubber-damped as well. But it was definitely the side panels that intermittently transmitted this little buzz...and because this pc is so quiet it really worked on my nerves. So now with those rubber mounts added, that buzz is history.

Another game requiring internet connection, which requires login to battlenet, which means another ancient user name / password I cannot recall.

Tried to set up a new account - says my email address is in use. Tried to login using that email. No luck.

Set up a new account with an alternate email address ... now we'll see how it goes.

Game is installing from the disk = 10 + minutes to get to 50% install. Given all the issues I've been reading about with the servers, this is probably futile ...
Maybe I will just have to go back to Farmville ...

Hello fellow PC enthusiasts...

It has been awhile since I have visited the boards.

I am looking at upgrading my Alienware Area 51 (late2007). I wanted to buy a new full PC and try and sell this one for what I could. However I thought that upgrading it keeping the cool old Predator case and PSU I could save some money.

Questions....will the new motherboards and stuff fit into this case ok? I have a 1000 watt PSU, and was wondering if I can use it with today's motherboards in terms of the power adapter that plugs into the motherboard.

Any tips or suggestions or stuff to look out for would be much appreciated..

Many thanks,

Hello everyone, I'm planning on ordering an Eon 15-S during this summer and wanted to ask for opinions on the build. I don't quite need a desktop-replacement build as I have a desktop that's more than enough for my needs. Speaking of which, my needs are mainly along the lines of multimedia. I do a heavy amount of video work, medium graphics work, medium coding, and light gaming. I have an Xbox 360 so a majority of the games I play I simply buy for that, but I would like to have a laptop that could play some of the games I like on PC. The most demanding thing I've played recently on PC is SWTOR, so that's about my upper range. Guild Wars 2 is something I'm interested in though as well, but it's really nothing that would sway my decision. I'm rambling a bit, so I'll just post the build

Chassis and Primary Display - Exclusive Origin PC Design - Pure Silver -
If any one has pictures of the other colours, I would be interested in seeing them, but I like the Silver a good bit so I'll probably stick with that

Graphics Card - Single 1GB GDDR5 NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660M
I'm against upgrading this currently. I'm a tad worried about heating problems, and I think this will be more than sufficient for me.

Processor - Intel Core i7-3720M Quad-Core Processor (2.60GHz)
This is where I could really use some assistance. I've seen people posting about the higher heat when overclocked, but I don't know how much hotter it would run than a 2760-QM at factory speeds. I'm waiting to see how the heat issue develops before ordering. I'm also waiting for the dual-core Ivy Bridge chips, but I don't think my current laptop (5 years old and it's not bearing its age well) will last a whole lot longer. I'm getting this laptop for uni this year, so I'd rather have it before classes start in August. I'd probably order around June/July to give them time to make the build and ship. That's another area I would like to know about, approximately how much time I should give them to ship.

Memory - 8GB
I think that's enough for me for the near future.

Optical Drive - Optical Bay Hard Drive Caddy with Bezel
I don't really need the optical drive, so I'm planning on just getting some extra space, probably the 750 @7200. I work with HD video, and while I still use my desktop for a majority of my video work, it would be nice to use this in a pinch.

Hard Drive - 120GB Corsair Force GT
The secondary drive means I can get a smaller SSD, so if Intel or Samsung are especially better I can change this.

Networking - Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300
I know next to nothing of networking, but this one seems like a good choice. Any opinions?

"Good to hear from you. I was just given an update on your order and wanted to reach out to you immediately. As you know, the EON17x is a brand new high end product that Origin PC has been working to qualify and ship out to our customers in a timely fashion. Unfortunately, the latest information I now have is that the main internal components from China have been further delayed and will not be ready till later this summer. The issue is industry wide impacting any company selling a similar laptop, not just ORIGIN PC....."

--------------------------------------
Oh so polite...but still makes me sick! You'll also notice the 17X has been pulled from their website.

Hi everybody! :D

I am thinking of getting my first gaming laptop and considering the Origin EON15-S Laptop, but there are a few things i would like to ask from anybody who have purchased Origin Laptops before taking the plunge.

I am tempted to get the overclocked option of the GTX 675m but i heard that overclocked card wears out easily. Has anybody have any problems with the overclocked option? I am hoping to use this laptop for at least 3-4 years before upgrading. As i am based overseas in the far east, getting the 3 year warranty is not much of an option for me.

Is getting the extra mSATA Drive as OS Drive option good or using an SSD for Hard Drive One as OS and replacing optical bay drive with a normal Sata for storage better?? Actually i am not sure how the mSATA drive really works?

I will be using this laptop for gaming at home and while commuting(planes) and work in office. (this laptop will be subsidized in part by the company)

I have researched both Origin and Alienware.
I find that Origin Laptops are more affordable and has better custom options than Alienware~

Would really appreciate any advices before i confirm my buy!

Please note the estimated in stock date of the EON17-X is Q3 2012 and that the in stock date, pricing, and components may vary.
I'm hoping this only applies to new orders. I know they are having trouble obtaining the components for this but I hope they have them for existing orders.

I have not recieved this information from Origin PC APAC Australia.

Following this i made a customer feedback post on these forums. It was removed after approximately 5 hours. It has been moved to a forum that I cannot see or access. I do not know if it was read or responded to by anyone at Origin PC APAC.

I am not happy with the way Origin PC APAC has handled this situation.

Whilst the parts shortage is not their fault, Origin PC APAC has not kept me informed about the progress of my order.

Why did I have to come to these forums to find out about the 2 month delay to my order?

Why wasn't I informed about the parts shortage in April, when my ordered was paid for and I entered the production queue?

Why hasn't Origin contacted me since to give me an update?

Origin PC APAC's customer service has not been satisfactory. I am now considering cancelling my order.

I waited until the intel ivy bridge was available to get this laptop. I am an independent film director and will be using this laptop to edit my first film. The film will be entered in every film contest I can afford. I will be installing The Adobe Premiere Production CS5.5 and then upgrade CS5.5 to CS6. On occasion I will play games on it. Mostly though it will be for my work. It's estimated ship date is May 30. I look forward to using it.

I have had my new Origin machine for a number of months now and had to come back to the forum and post my appreciation for OriginPC and express my extreme satisfaction with my new machine. I am an application developer by trade, frequently work with large video projects and had a medium size consulting service (10-14 delevopers) for 10+ years. I typically need some solid horsepower in my personal machine. I have built my own machines in the past when i wanted something powerful. My last machine croaked after a number of years and i needed something quick (didnt get it as quick as i would have liked) and stumbled across OriginPC from a post in a dell forum.
I was so impressed I canceled my Dell order and bought a spec'd genesis machine with I5, 16gb ram, 1tb hd and no over clocking (nothing fancy).
From the time the machine arrived, thru the transiton from all my older machines and installing all my custome software and then finally running some fairly heavy custom apps, i have been so impressed with this machine. It is rock solid, easy to upgrade (added another 16GB RAM) and just plain works. I cant beleive what a good build this is and all future mission critical machines with be and OriginPC. Thanks so much guys!
