Welcome to the Origin Niche! Before you start posting and socializing, please take a moment to learn about the history of our humble abode.
Originally named Alienware Niche, the website has supported boutique buyers, do-it-yourselfers, and other technology gurus since 2006. The website is a fan created, hosted, and financed forum that was once home to official Alienware staff. Unfortunately the tight grip of Dell fell upon Alienware and slowly began transforming the company; soon they began straying away from their roots and emphasis on a personal and communal experience. As a result, earlier this year (2010) Alienware hired a law firm which served the forums with legal papers demanding it stop using the name “Alienware” in its title along with other Alienware images which we were once permitted to use by top brass at Alienware. Forced to comply, the domain name was turned over and forever lost; a community I have helped to build for 4 years began to dwindle.
Fortunately, three former Alienware executives started up their own high-performance/boutique PC establishment named Origin PC and they reached out to us to work together and I agreed. Thanks to their passion and support for their customers and supporters alike, the discussion can live on and grow. However, don’t think just because Origin is in the title that it's limited to Origin PC owners; you will receive kindness and candor regardless of your specs, or the branding; in the end this is a high-performance PC forum that has enjoyed the support of a brand which we hope will become as beloved as the company that turned its back on its roots.
